"Whydah" is nearly done--I need to fix her hair and do a smidge of touch-up work, but this is pretty much what you'll see when she's done:

"Plague" is starting to make me kookoo. There's a ton of detail work to do in the background and I HATE that type of stuff. YAWN. But I know how I want it to look, so I'm sticking to it. The fireplace mantel is supposed to be a red marble, but I think it's too similar to the color of the couch and weighs down that side of the painting. Hmmmm. I will ponder this.
And in garden news, my daffodils are about to bust wide open and there's crocuses and cute little dwarf irises blooming. I'll post some pics. My tulips are being awfully shy--it'll be weeks before they're ready to bloom.

Hi there Abigail pointed you out.
Really beautiful work.
Hey, thanks Eric! Your work is awesome--your illustrations look familiar, I think I've seen your work before. I love when people post their sketches--yours are really wonderful.
I like it kinda leaning. But you could add a red doorknob on the door or something tiny on the left to draw the eye over there? Just a thought. But I LOVE the mantle, and couch, and everything else! Also, you mentioned something in June. What happens in June? A show? Girl, how do you find the time? I'm having a hard time finding time to paint right now with a 16 mth old. whew!
Hi I agree with Rachel . either a dark door or even just the doorknob!
I think it's a great painting .
Hi Rachel! Yeah, it's a show at the Blue in June with two other folks. Exciting, but coming up too fast.
I think you and Sandy have a pretty good suggestion about evening out the composition of "Plague"--I'll toy with it this week. Thanks!
I love 'Plague' .. I wish I had a big Victorian house to put it in though.
..and you're definitely right in regards to the fireplace, in my opinion, the painting actually looks finished haha!
I understand the business at home you mentioned. That's how this past week has been for me.
Your painting is wonderful. I always marvel at the luminous quality of your figures. I see your dilemma with the bottom painting. I agree with Sandy's suggestion about a dark door or door knob..maybe green since who have a lot of red. It's a great painting nonetheless!
