Finally!

Finally finished this piece I started months ago. I wish the photo were better. I'll have to take it outside on a cloudy day and shoot it again.

"She Could Hear the Shrieking of Distant Sea Birds"

oil on masonite, 16 x 20 inches

This will be going to the Blue Gallery as soon as it's dry and framed.

In other news, today I'm nursing a poor little sick critter with some sort of awful stomach virus. I guess there's a nasty bug going around. When I called Esther's doctor's office this morning to ask a nurse about her high fever, the nurse said she'd already had a ton of calls that morning about the same thing.
Her fever's down a bit, finally, and she's on the couch trying to sleep. Poor kid. We were all three of us up all night, and we all certainly look it!

Hope Ester gets well soon..the flu is going around here too.
Your painting is so gorgeous~her eyes are so luminous they look like water! And I like the touch of sun on her blouse..I can feel the warm wind in between rain storms in this image. That's what i like about your work..there is always mystery and a story behind each painting:)

Thanks Christine! Isn't it just the worst when the kids are sick?

I'm glad you like her eyes--I'm really happy with how it all turned out. This piece is basically a series of happy mistakes with little or no forethought. It's so awesome when that happens!
Hope you're having a great weekend!

best get-well wishes to your lil' one!
AND, I love your painting! The title really gets my imagination going. And her eyes tell so many stories.

Oooh, this one would look really good across the stairs from my favorite painting, A Dark Sea.

My toddler just watched me scroll through your blog and said, "Oooh, fishies, I like fishies, that is a pretty lady, she has a storm, those are nice pictures, what pretty pictures". You know how toddlerspeak goes.
